Dominus Gladiatus Crowd Favor: Liked, Indifferent and Disliked
Read the November crowd rules, understand helpful calls and hostile stones, and separate known behavior from unverified control methods.
What does the current published crowd mood mean?
The November 2 pre-launch update gives a clearer rule for crowd calls:
| Crowd mood | Helpful calls out of the two permitted calls |
|---|---|
| Liked | Both |
| Indifferent | One |
| Disliked | Neither |
A gladiator can call twice per fight. This table describes which calls help when they occur; it does not promise that every fight lasts long enough for both calls or that a helpful call guarantees victory.
Use the crowd branch in the Ludus assistant when comparing your current mood with the documented result.
Where should you look before a fight turns?
In a November 4 reply to a player complaining about randomness, Brain Seal says to pay attention to the crowd mood on the fight screen. The developer says an evenly matched battle can be decided by the crowd.
That is a reason to include crowd favor in your assessment alongside training, equipment and readiness. It is not evidence for a numerical win probability. Read arena readiness and equipment, Defense and range before attributing every loss to a spectator effect.
What can the crowd throw?
The latest update describes situational help: when you are winning, spectators may throw stones at the opponent; when you are struggling, they may throw apples or cabbage to help you.
Calling a hostile crowd while still healthy can instead result in a stone hitting your own gladiator. Stones briefly stun, and repeated hits extend the stun. These are conditional behaviors, not a fixed item sequence or a published table of drop chances.
Do not keep using the August rule that a full-health caller could never receive a stone as a blanket current guarantee. The November update is the newer explanation.
Does Ruthless start with a friendly audience?
No. The November rules say Ruthless starts with Indifferent or Disliked crowd favor, never Liked. That changes what support you can initially expect and accompanies stronger opponents, more sabotage and no coins for defeat.
“Starts” is important. It does not prove favor can never change later. See difficulty and rewards for the rest of the Ruthless trade-offs.
How do you change favor in the full game?
The November 4 developer reply says the full version lets you swing favor to your side, but it does not explain the exact method. This guide therefore does not invent a button, price, employee ability or a manual in-combat command.
Combat is described as an auto-battler. Inspect the current game’s available actions and tooltips rather than assuming you can manually trigger every call. If you need the precise full-game favor-changing procedure, use the official discussions and state your build and platform.
The answer above is deliberately narrower: read the current mood, understand the published call outcome, and recognize hostile-call risk. Training and skill changes covers other November changes that may explain a different result from an old demo run.
Which sources support these rules?
- November 2 pre-launch update: crowd calls, items and stun.
- November 4 developer reply: inspect fight-screen mood.
- Official store: auto-battler preparation and crowd influence.
Checked November 5, 2026. The update covers demo and pre-release builds; specific full-game control methods remain unverified.
